"Stay-cation" projects

My "stay-cation" was a wee bit productive last week. We put up pretty screen doors that I've wanted for a long time. I'm sure it will become annoying eventually but for now I love hearing the "clap" of the screen door slamming shut. It reminds me of my childhood home.

I also cleaned up my little flower garden and added a bird bath and some perennials. It was a mess of weeds before after months of neglect. I'm thinking about giving the bird bath a coat of paint or adding something in the middle to dress it up a bit.

Lazy days of summer

I'm still a little behind on my Summer pic-a-day. We were on vacation last week and I'm still in that lazy summer mode. We didn't have much of a vacation, in fact it was more of a "stay-cation" because we didn't go anywhere. Still it was great staying up late, sleeping in and just being at home with the kids. We managed a trip to an amusement park to celebrate my son's 10th birthday (I can't believe I have a child in the double digits) and a trip to the park and the movies. I so did not want to go back to real life. This week all three kids are at Grandma's house. Its just the hubby and I so you would think that we would be enjoying the silence, going out to eat, or just finishing some projects around the house. Nope, all we've done so far is sit around and talk about how much we miss the kids. They give a house life and without them it feels weird and unnatural. I know one day they'll grow up and it will just be me and my husband but I don't think I'm ready for that just yet.
