A few finds from my latest thrift store excursion (the paper flowers were a Mother's Day gift from one of my babes). I've noticed that the thrift stores in my area have been picked clean for the most part. I hardly ever come across any good finds anymore. I suppose that's a result of the recession and more people living within their means. I believe this is one good thing to come from our country's current state. So many people are beginning to live more frugal lives, reusing, re-purposing and even growing their own food. It makes me happy to see more and more people drift away from consumerism and instead choose to be more self-reliant and thrifty.
Anyway, let me get down off my soapbox and back to my thrifted treasures. Seeing all the beautiful blooms beginning to open up had me searching for bud vases on my last thrift store trip. I was drawn to the simplicity of middle vase right away, but when I turned it over this is was I saw:
I was thrilled to see that this vase was made for Pan Am. I know that vintage Pan Am memorabilia has become quite popular. According to this website, this little bud vase most likely perched on the dinner trays of travelers in the 1950s. Definatey a treasure.
