I was disappointed when my girls told me that they wanted a store-bought costumes for Halloween this year. I tried my best to convince at least one of them to dress-up as Little Red Riding Hood because I really, really wanted a reason to make a long, flowing red cape just like in the movie. Alas, my power of persuasion rarely works anymore on these opinionated little girls. They both fell in love with a couple of witch costumes at JoAnn's and I reluctantly bought them. Sniff, sniff...no handmade Halloween this year.
Then, at 4:45pm on Halloween Day, Sarah insisted (with all the drama and tears that 7 year old girls can muster) that it was her life-long dream to be a zombie for Halloween. What choice did I have but to get crafty! Sure it involved ripping and smearing instead of planning and sewing, but I got my handmade Halloween and she got to be a hungry zombie.
We all had an awesome Halloween.
