Vintage Swap 2010

And a sweet teacup that was my (and my girls') favorite piece. It's so delicate and dainty I have no idea how it survived the shipment but I am so happy that it did. I couldn't be more pleased!

I am so thankful to Mary for putting so much thought and time into my swap package. I'm also happy to have been introduced to another inspiring blog to read.

thrifty finds

I've had quite a bit of thrifty luck lately. This is partly due to the new Goodwill that opened right down the road from my workplace. I have to pace myself or else I would spend my lunch hour everyday there.

 
 Lucky for me the Vintage Swap is going on right now. It gives me a great excuse to visit the Goodwill at least once a week. Ok, twice a week (wink,wink).

I've also started "rescuing" crocheted baby blankets. I just can't stand seeing someone's hard work and love in a thrift store bin being sold for a $1. I'm not sure what I'll do with them being that I don't have babies anymore. Perhaps I could sew them together to make one big afghan.

I'v also started my own stash-busting scrappy afghan just like Jodi's. When it's finished it will be the largest crocheted piece I've ever done. Right now it's just lap size but my yarn stash is bigger than I like to admit and I've barley put a dent in it.

I'm so very exicted to be taking part in Craft Hope's project 6. All the participants of Craft Hope's past projects have spread so much kindness, hope and love through their handmade gifts. The sign ups for the Vintage Swap 2010 just began today. I loved taking part in the Vintage Swap 2009 and I am excited to do it again. If you enjoy seeking out vintage treasures or using vintage items in your crafts, then join in on the fun.  

Vintage Swap

 I had such fun gathering things for my partner in the Vintage Swap 2009. Yesterday I received my package and I was so pleased!

 
Thank you to my partner Tina for sending me this wonderful collection of vintage notions and my very favorite thing...

 
a beautiful linen tablecloth with (what looks hand-done) cross stitch detail. The whole package also came cleverly wrapped in sewing pattern tissue paper.

Thanks again to my partner Tina (I hope you're happy with yours as well) and also to Heather for hosting the swap. I can't wait for the next one!

Handmade Swap

I needed a sewing project that had a deadline attatched to ensure I would finish it so I joined the "handmade handbag" swap over at Swap-bot. This is the bag I made.

 

My partner likes the color blue and on my search for a blue print, I fell in love with this one. I didn't save the slevedge but I remember is said 'Bohemian" so it is possibly from Robert Kaufman's Bohemian Rhapsody line.

I used linen for the neutral fabric and the wooden beaded handles are from my stash. I have five pairs of these handles that I picked up on clearance about a year ago. I have been waiting for a project to use them in.

 

I did pleats on the sides of the print. Just a small detail but it gave the bag a little something special.

I really hope my partner enjoys this bag. I am enjoying the sasifaction of completing a project, a rare event for me.
